Open Positions
The Department of Nursing is accepting applicants for a full-time faculty position.
This instructional role will have a focus on med/surg and will require an earned PhD. Candidates with experience teaching in higher education is preferred and candidates who have prior experience in a hospital environment is a plus.
This challenging role offers the opportunity to walk side by side with students who have been accepted into the University's Nursing program, guide them through to graduation and then the passing of the NCLEX.

Experience
Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field is preferred; a master’s degree is required. Candidates with proven teaching experience at the undergraduate level will be given priority. Teaching responsibilities include various computer science courses, including programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++, database design, algorithms, and data structures. In addition to teaching, the faculty member is expected to engage in scholarly activity and participate in university service.

Position
The Dean of Men and Women will directly manage all aspects of residential life and housing for the students who choose to live on the University campus. These responsibilities include the development and implementation of plans for residence hall efforts focusing on the successful transition of students into, through, and out of the Southwestern Adventist University experience. In addition, Deans will serve as the primary point of contact for all issues affecting students in residence. Deans will also provide support to University departments in coordinating the use of residential facilities for services, programs, and research efforts to benefit all students in residence and will ensure budget goals related to initiatives for students living on campus are met.
Responsibilities
Administrative Responsibilities
- Actively participate in various committees as assigned and needed throughout the academic year.
- Maintain records necessary for the effective functioning of the residence halls and make these records available to other University officers as needed.
- Submit to the Vice President for Financial Administration requests and plans for repair, alterations, and refurnishing of the residence halls.
- Work closely with the Vice President for Financial in the establishment of budgets for maintaining the school residence halls.
- Study and suggest revision of policies concerning standards of student behavior.
- Maintain an effective assessment plan.
Student Life
- Arrange room reservations and room assignments for students.
- Correspond and counsel with the parents of students under their supervision.
- As far as possible, provide for the comfort of guests in the dormitory.
- Serve as counselors and arrange for other essential counseling services.
- Be a spiritual guide to men and women in residences and provide stimulating and spiritual devotions.
- Instruct students in proper conduct and investigate reported conduct irregularities.
- Administer the policies in the Student Handbook in relation to student social conduct.
- Work with the university health service in all matters pertaining to student health and health habits.
- Approve requests for excuses for reasonable absences not connected with illness.
- Approve applications of students, in their respective residences, for leaves of absence from the campus.
- Handle all minor cases of student infraction of regulations, to report major infractions of regulations or continued minor infractions to the chair of the Discipline Committee.
- Assist the security officer in administering the university motor vehicle policy.
- Assist in scholarship by insisting on and maintaining a quiet dormitory.
- Support Student Services and collaborate or lead where needed in the following areas –
- Instruction in the social graces.
- Providing exposure for students in cultural diversity.
- Christian life and dignity.
- Assisting with the supervision of the general conduct of students at social functions.
- Suggestions for revision of policies concerning standards of student behavior.
- Sponsor the University’s Men’s Club and the Women’s Club, respectively.
- Work closely the University Health Services team in all matters relating to student health and health habits, while respecting and working within the confines of HIPAA.

Working Conditions
- This is a full-time, 12-month position. Due to the nature of student development responsibilities, work schedules differ from, and exceed, typical business hours. Deans must establish effective management, training, and coverage for program supervision, on and off campus. This position may require a campus presence for an extraordinary or extended period of time for individual and group guidance and/or intervention; a semester/summer transition; for programs such orientations, convocations and commencements; and during potential or actual emergency situations.
- This position will serve on a duty rotation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Given required evening, weekend, and on-call responsibilities, Deans are required to live on campus in an apartment provided by Southwestern Adventist University.

Position:
Under supervision of the Program Director, this position provides administrative support for the STEM Excellence team. In addition to filing and scheduling, performing duties such as record keeping, coordination of meetings and conferences, obtaining supplies, coordinating direct mailings, and working on special projects. This role is also responsible for the supervision of student workers.
This role deals with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload, recommends changes in office practices or procedures.
Responsibilities:
Administrative

Position
The Manager of Media Services supports all aspects of the University in audio, visual, and production wherever needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage audio/visual planning and logistics for in person events such as assemblies, worship events, campus recreation events, recruitment events, and other high profile events such as Convocation and Graduation.
- Manage all aspects of AV and departmental equipment inventory, and ensures proper care, testing, preventative maintenance and repairs of department’s existing AV equipment
- Design, install (and uninstall), manages and oversees use of AV production and editing equipment in department’s AV studios and in classrooms
- Maintain and continuously update knowledge of and familiarity with state-of-the-art technology and systems so as to effectively recommend purchases, changes, updates and redesigns of AV facilities and equipment
- Manage audio, camera, graphics, and additional viewing venues for live streams.
- Collaborate with all departments to film and edit events that are not live and in-person to produce videos for use events, in class, online, or promotional material.
- Manage all technical and logistical issues with the Online SWAU calendar/ reservation system.
- Manage classroom audio/visual technologies across campus.
- Manage and support remote meeting and learning technologies.
- Provide guidance and/or assist faculty, students, staff, student employees, interns, and/or volunteers in audio-visual principles, methods and techniques in set-up, perations, and troubleshooting of department’s AV equipment.
- Train and manage media student workers in all aspects of video production and broadcast setups.
- Design and provide adequate lighting for events.
- Partner cross-functionally in the production of Mizpah yearbook.

Position
The Associate Director of Sponsored Projects Administration pursues, negotiates, and administers sponsored programs; identifies external/internal funding opportunities; oversees the proposal preparation process; submits proposals; reviews and processes agreements (both financial and non-financial); negotiates contract terms; informs faculty and college personnel of special contractual requirements; ensuring compliance with University guidelines; and providing training to University personnel on grants and contracts administration.
