Are you passionate about answering the call to ministry or shaping young minds through education? Our initiatives aim to support students like you who are pursuing careers in Theology and Education, nurturing the next generation of Adventist leaders.
About Our Initiatives
In collaboration with Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU), the Southwestern Union, under the leadership of President Carlos Craig, has introduced two groundbreaking initiatives:
- Southwestern Union Theology Scholarship: This scholarship program offers financial support to SWAU students majoring in theology and aiming for pastoral ministry. Scholarships range from $1,000 annually for freshmen and sophomores to $6,500 per year for juniors and seniors, totaling up to $15,000. To qualify, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, actively engage in ministry, and submit regular reflection papers on their journey. Scholarships will be awarded starting Spring Semester 2024.
- Southwestern Union Teacher-Student Loan Forgiveness Program: Graduates of SWAU entering teaching positions within the Southwestern Union Conference can benefit from this program. Teachers receive a $5,000 bonus at the end of each of their first three years of teaching, totaling $15,000, which is applied directly toward their student loan debt.
Why Choose Our Program?
- Financial Support for Theology and Education Seventh-Day Adventist Employees in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana: We understand the financial challenges students face and are committed to easing the burden through scholarships and loan forgiveness.
- Mentorship Opportunities for Aspiring Pastors and Teachers: Our initiatives extend beyond financial assistance. We actively engage with students through campus visits and collaborations between departments, fostering authentic relationships and mentorship.
- Commitment to Service in the Southwestern Union Territory: By pursuing a career in ministry or education, you're committing to a life of service. We're here to support and empower you as you answer God's call.
