Southwestern Adventist University brought a prehistoric twist to the ballpark with a successful “Zoorassic Night” in partnership with the Cleburne Railroaders American Association baseball team. The event, attended by 1,700+ baseball fans, offered a unique blend of education and entertainment, showcasing SWAU’s Dinosaur Museum in a fun and engaging way.
The evening featured a Dino Dig where children eagerly unearthed dinosaur bones, guided by student workers from the museum. “Our goal was to highlight the Dino Museum to the public and engage kids in a fun and educational activity,” said Dr. Tom Bunch, who organized the event and had the honor of throwing out the first pitch. SWAU also distributed materials about the university and the museum, making sure attendees left with a deeper understanding of both.
The highlight of the night was the auction of special “Zoorassic Night” jerseys, which attracted bids from as far away as Wisconsin. With all 31 jerseys sold and net proceeds of $3,750 going to support SWAU’s initiatives.
This year marked the third year of SWAU’s partnership with the Cleburne Railroaders, and the collaboration has only grown stronger with plans already in motion for future events, including a two-day STEM event and future Jurassic Nights.
