What You Need to Study in the U.S.
International students attending Southwestern Adventist University on an F-1 visa must complete specific steps to be eligible for entry into the United States. Below are the required documents and payments to receive your Form I-20 and successfully apply for your visa.
Before You Can Receive Your I-20
To issue your Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status), please submit the following:
- A copy of your current passport information page.
- At least three recent bank statements showing sufficient financial support.
- A $1,000 international student deposit*, which includes:
- $200 residence hall room deposit
- $100 non-refundable processing fee
- Pre-payment of $6,500* for undergraduate students
*Note: If a visa is denied and the student does not enroll, the funds will be returned, minus the processing fee and any transaction fees.
Do Not Leave Your Home Country Without:
- Your official acceptance letter from SWAU
- Your Form I-20 issued by SWAU
- A valid passport and F-1 student visa for travel to the United States
Additional Requirements Before Arrival
- Tuberculosis (TB) test within 30 days of arriving in the U.S.
- Meningitis vaccination within 30 days of arrival
- Final official transcripts, school leaving documents, or national exam certificates
- Bring original documents if you submitted copies for admission (we will make certified copies)
