Dr. Harold L. Wright joined the faculty of Southwestern Adventist College in 1978. He served for more than eight years as the dean of men, assistant professor of physics, and academic vice president. Prior to serving at Southwestern, he was a nuclear physicist at White Sands Missile Range in White Sands, New Mexico. Hal, as he was known to his friends, was an excellent musician. He started "Cottonwood," a group that involved the president and several Southwestern students in playing bluegrass music. Hal and his wife, Cheryl, had two sons, Trevor and Brady. In retirement, Hal and Cheryl lived in Escondido, California. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the banjo, and fly fishing.
Family and friends have contributed to the Harold L. Wright Scholarship in honor of Hal's commitment to higher education and in remembrance of the time he served at Southwestern Adventist College as academic dean.
