American Conductor, Vocalist & Music Educator Jonathan E. L. Wall has served as Artistic Director for the Southwestern Music Festival and Director of Choral & Vocal Studies at Southwestern Adventist University since 2009. 

As a choral music educator, he formed the internationally renowned touring ensemble, The University Singers, in 2010. Since 2012, The Singers have presented concert tours in renowned venues throughout Puerto Rico, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, South Korea, Germany, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, England and the United States. In August 2022, they were invited to be guest choir at Portsmouth Cathedral, Quarr Abbey on the Isle of Wight, and the most prestigious church venue in the world, Westminster Abbey in London. In May of 2023, The Singers traveled to Italy for a second time, with performances in Florence and Rome. May 2024 takes The University Singers to Costa Rica as guest choir in residence at the Universidad Nacional Costa Rica (UNA) and collaborative concerts with professional Costa Rican choirs on behalf of ACDA Costa Rica. 

The University Singers have also contributed to the development of new choral music, with commissions from award-winning composers Ēriks Ešenvalds, Kim André Arnesen, Craig Courtney, Brandon A. Boyd, Philip W. Stopford & Elaine Hagenberg. Each piece was premiered by The Singers at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas, during the annual Southwestern Music Festival. 

The Singers are also known for their unique collaborations, which provide rich and rewarding experiences for their music scholars. The ensemble was invited by the United States Embassy in Prague and Bratislava to present special cultural performances for dignitaries and government officials, they recently recorded a Christmas Special for ABC television, Come Adore Him, with Grammy Winner, Jonathan McReynolds and Naomi Raine of Maverick City Music, they were the featured choir on the Spanish Album, El Descanso, with CCM artist Steve Green and presented Live in Concert with Jaci Velasquez, they were also special guests of Senate Chaplain, Rear Admiral Barry Black, at the Senate Bible Study in Washington D.C. In addition, they have been featured with The Aeolians from Oakwood University, The Turku Girls Choir in Finland, The University Singers from Andrews University, were the headline ensemble for The Aveiro Choral Festival in Portugal and joined the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra for the Bernstein Centennial Festival. The Singers have also appeared in dozens of guest concert series throughout The United States, Europe, and Canada. 

The University Singers are also recognized for their diverse membership, the impressive variety of major fields of study (currently 14 different majors represented) and by the new and cultural music that they authentically prepare. The Singers are dedicated to sharing music of love, hope and comfort throughout the world and in their local communities.

As an administrator, Professor Wall was chair of the Department of Music from 2010 to 2017. During his time as chair, he founded the Southwestern Recital Series, which has been an outlet for championing student, faculty, and guest artists' performance achievements on the University Campus while at the same time giving back to the local community. Over 120 concerts have been presented since its beginnings in 2010. He researched and wrote the new curriculum for the Bachelor of Music Education Degree (BME), which has attracted and intentionally prepared a new cohort of Southwestern Adventist University Students for professional educator roles. Professor Wall, wrote and championed a new Music Scholarship Program in 2011. This program has been directly responsible for successfully recruiting and graduating scores of students over the past 13 years and has led directly to the growth of the Department and its Ensembles while enhancing the reputation of Southwestern Adventist University. In 2012, he championed and started the Southwestern Chamber Orchestra with the creation of a new faculty position, The Director of Orchestral Studies. As the Artistic Director of the Southwestern Music Festival, he has transformed the Festival into one of the top music festivals in the country. The festival attracts the best composers from around the world and allows for world-renowned soloists to be featured in the various ensembles. The development of The Southwestern Music Scholarship Program has allowed top high school recruits to earn annual awards that have led to them choosing Southwestern Adventist University as their school of choice. 

As a vocalist, Professor Wall has been featured as a soloist across North America, South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. His voice transcends the expected and can be “…strong as an anvil and light as a feather, all while dripping with emotion and tenderness”. He has presented solo recitals, masterclasses, and concerts and loves collaborating with choirs, church musicians, and artists from cultures around the world. 

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Professor Wall lives in Keene, Texas, with his wife, artist & educator Marcela Moskalova Wall, and their two daughters, Zasha & Luccia. Their family loves to travel together, finding new places to eat, new countries to visit and new shores to explore.
