Purpose
The AI Prompt Engineering Certificate at Southwestern Adventist University prepares students to effectively engage with artificial intelligence through the design, evaluation, and ethical application of prompts across diverse contexts. As AI technologies continue to reshape communication, creativity, and professional practice, this certificate equips students with the skills to interact thoughtfully and strategically with AI systems. Certificate Requirements (6 Credits Total)
The AI Prompt Engineering Certificate consists of two courses (a total of 6 credit hours) designed to provide students with a strong foundation in prompt design, AI communication, and ethical engagement with artificial intelligence. These courses are listed in the Communication and English departments, emphasizing both creative and professional applications.
Completion and Academic Standards
- Total credits: A minimum of 6 credit hours (2 courses)
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0 in certificate coursework
Most students can complete The AI Prompt Engineering Certificate without extending their time to graduation by selecting courses that fulfill general education or elective requirements.
