Your Step-by-Step Guide to Applying
The college application process can feel overwhelming, but we are here to make it as smooth and manageable as possible. Below is a general timeline to help you stay on track as you apply to Southwestern Adventist University as a first-year student. Be sure to check specific deadlines each year for updates.
August – October
- Start your application through the online portal
- Request official high school transcripts
- Take or submit ACT/SAT scores (optional but recommended for scholarships)
- Begin working on your FAFSA (opens October 1)
November – December
- Finalize and submit your application
- Follow up on letters of recommendation (if required)
- Submit your FAFSA using SWAU’s school code: 003646
- Schedule a campus visit or virtual tour
January – March
- Receive your acceptance letter
- Explore merit scholarship opportunities
- Submit any additional documents requested by the Office of Enrollment
April – May
- Pay your commitment deposit to secure your spot
- Complete your housing application and submit the room deposit
- Register for CORE Orientation Week
- Submit any required health forms and final transcripts
June – August
- Attend CORE Week and register for classes
- Order textbooks and purchase supplies
- Connect with your academic advisor
- Get excited—college begins soon!
