MSN Admission Process
Join a community of nurse leaders and educators. Our Master of Science in Nursing Education is designed for working registered nurses ready to advance their careers and impact the future of nursing.
We accept students from regionally accredited baccalaureate nursing programs.
- Apply to Graduate Program
- Submit Transcripts
- Domestic Applicants must submit official transcripts for each college or university attended, both undergraduate and graduate. Original transcripts for each college/university attended must be submitted, even if referred to on another school’s transcripts.
- International Applicants are requested to provide an evaluation prepared by WES.org. Request a WESICAP to be sent directly to SWAU admissions. See International Admissions for more details.
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale on all prior college coursework in cumulative and nursing.
- Current US RN License (unencumbered) students participate in any clinical or professional immersion experience.
- Submit Recommendation Requests
- Written recommendations from two individuals who know the applicant’s professional ability, personal character, and intellectual promise for pursuing successful graduate study. Please have the authors include the following:
- Candidate interest and commitment to the role of nursing educator and leadership
- Candidate engagement in the role of nurse, sharing evidence of increasing responsibility, accountability and/or teaching potential, and scholarship
- Candidate's extracurricular engagement in civic or leadership activities, including volunteerism
- Submit Resume and Cover Letter
- including your interest and commitment to the successful completion of this degree program; engagement in nursing practice, roles, and responsibilities, as well as scholarship; and briefly explaining your community involvement/volunteerism.
