SWAU Amazon Mission Trip 2027
Faith in Action Along the Amazon
For nearly 25 years, the Nursing Department at Southwestern Adventist University has prepared students to live out their faith through service, compassion, and hands-on care. That legacy continues in Spring Break 2027 through an interdisciplinary mission trip to the Amazon region of Brazil.
March 2027, a team of students, faculty, alumni, and community professionals will partner with ADRA Brazil to serve riverbank communities along the Amazon tributaries near Belém. These communities often lack consistent access to healthcare and basic resources. Through this mission, our team will meet both physical and spiritual needs by providing medical, dental, and optometry care, community outreach, Vacation Bible School programs, and evangelistic meetings.
This mission is led by the Nursing Department and includes students from nursing, theology, biology, education and programs, along with experienced medical and logistics professionals.
What Your Gift Supports
Your generosity makes this mission possible by funding the essential resources needed to reach remote communities and deliver care with dignity and compassion. Specifically, your gift helps provide:
- Airfare and safe travel for students and volunteer professionals
- Boat transportation, fuel, and crew to access riverbank villages
- Lodging, meals, and local transportation for the mission team
- Medical, dental, and vision supplies, including eyeglasses
- Community outreach resources such as VBS materials, food baskets, and basic necessities
Beyond the immediate impact, your support equips students to translate faith into action, shaping servant leaders whose commitment to service will continue long after this mission ends.
