Claude and Winnie Hughes were married in Keene in 1926. Long-time residents of the area, they celebrated 60 years of marriage in August 1986, in the Keene Youth Chapel. The Claude Hughes Student Help Scholarship was established by LaVerne Northrop in loving memory of her father. This Scholarship honors Claude's life and the difference he made in the lives of others.

Scholarship Award Requirements

This scholarship is awarded to students who attended Jefferson Academy in Jefferson, Texas, or who are from Arkansas, East Texas, or Louisiana, who have financial need, who are currently employed, or who are an education or theology major.
