Get ready for another exciting summer of fossil excavation in beautiful Eastern Wyoming! The Dinosaur Dig team at Southwestern Adventist University is already gearing up for the 2025 season, and applications are now open for those eager to join us. The dig season officially begins on June 2, 2025, at the Hanson Research Station and runs through the end of June. We welcome high school and college students, international guests, and anyone who is interested in joining us as a “citizen scientist.” You can participate in any length of stay from one day to the full four weeks.
Each day, our team will excavate fossils at several exciting dig sites. We’ll recover fossils from iconic dinosaurs like Triceratops and T. rex, as well as fossils from other prehistoric creatures such as crocodiles, fish, lizards, and birds. As we uncover each specimen, we carefully document the data and pack them for transport back to the Dinosaur Science Museum at SWAU. The fossils, along with the collected data, provide crucial insights into the environmental conditions of the Earth at the time these animals lived and died.
We welcome anyone passionate about science, whether you’re an experienced researcher or someone new to the world of paleontology. Our team values the unique perspectives and skills that each participant brings to the project, and everyone plays a vital role in making this dig season successful.
High school and college students can earn 4 lab science credits through our summer class, The Dinosaurs (GEOL 240). Scholarships are available for qualified students to help with tuition and project participation costs.
We also invite international researchers, teachers, and pastors to join us for the season. Limited funding may be available to assist with project participation costs and travel.
