Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU) was honored to host Dr. Bryan Dik, a renowned vocational psychologist, author, and professor at Colorado State University, for a series of transformative presentations as part of the Faculty Development Program for 2024-2025. The theme, "Discovering God's Calling," resonated deeply with attendees, exploring how individuals can discern and commit to their unique, God-given purpose.

Dr. Dik, co-creator of the award-winning PathwayU career assessment platform, has dedicated his career to helping individuals find meaning and purpose in the workplace. He has delivered keynote lectures on four continents and is the author of four influential books. His expertise lies at the intersection of faith, work, and career development, focusing on how vocational calling can lead to a fulfilling and impactful professional life.

The two-day event began with a Faculty Development Luncheon featuring Dr. Dik's presentation, "Redeeming Work – A Guide to Discovering God's Calling for Your Career." The luncheon, held in the Student Center and catered by SWAU Food Services, provided an intimate setting for students, faculty, and staff to engage with Dr. Dik's insights while enjoying a delicious Italian meal. During this session, Dr. Dik encouraged attendees to explore how their faith can shape and enhance their career paths. He emphasized the value of integrating spiritual calling with professional life, offering practical guidance on navigating the journey of discovering a vocation that aligns with faith and work.

Dr. Dik's presentations continued throughout his visit, culminating in a keynote address on the broader theme of "Commitment to Calling," where he expanded on the importance of dedication to one's life purpose. His research and practical advice were well-received, sparking meaningful conversations about vocational discernment and how students can apply these principles in their academic and future career pursuits.
