SWAU Violinist João Flores Advances to Final Round of Prestigious Concerto Competition

Southwestern Adventist University is excited to announce that junior music major, João Flores, has advanced to the final round of the 2024 Concerto Competition hosted by Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee.
Flores, a talented violinist from Brazil, serves as the concertmaster of the SWAU Chamber Orchestra. His commitment to excellence and passion for music has earned him a place among 15 finalists selected from across the United States to compete in this prestigious event.
The final round of the competition will take place on December 1st. Flores will showcase his extraordinary violin skills, accompanied by SWAU music professor Jonathan Mamora on the piano.
“We are immensely proud of João and his accomplishments,” said the Music Department at SWAU. “His dedication, hard work, and musical excellence inspire us all. We are thrilled to see him representing SWAU on a national stage and wish him all the best as he competes in the final round.”
