Welcome to S.T.E.P., the Southwestern Transition Enrichment Program—a dynamic 4-week summer experience designed for incoming freshmen and transfer sophomore students. This program offers you the opportunity to earn up to 6 college credits while fully immersing yourself in on-campus life at Southwestern Adventist University. The program runs from July 21st to August 15th, with the CORE starting on August 20th.
Program Overview
As a S.T.E.P. student, you will:
- Earn up to 7 college credit hours by completing engaging, fast-paced courses.
- Live on campus with all-inclusive housing and meals included in your program fee.
- Participate in social, cultural, and career-focused activities to help you build friendships and discover new opportunities.
- Receive academic mentoring through personalized coaching sessions with an academic navigator.
- Enjoy weekly worships, vespers, and weekend activities designed to support your personal and spiritual growth.
All of this is available for just $600, with a $100 deposit required to secure your spot (deposit waived when you enroll for Fall).

During S.T.E.P., you can choose from various course options based on your future college plans. Course options include:
- Religion 101
- Fine Arts 124
- General Biology 101
- English 115
How to Apply
To join S.T.E.P., you must:
- Apply to Southwestern Adventist University and be accepted
- Be a first-time freshman or sophomore
- Complete your FAFSA and have it sent to us (FAFSA Application)
- Submit your $100 deposit (waived upon Fall enrollment)

Getting Involved
We encouraged you to participate in campus activities, including getting involved with SLAD, attending weekly enrollment-sponsored events (such as skating and other fun outings), and receiving support from peer mentors through the Office of Student Success.
