UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATIONS
Southwestern Adventist University may communicate with you regarding admissions, enrollment, registration, financial aid, student accounts, academic programs, campus life, alumni relations, fundraising activities, events, safety notifications, and other matters related to your relationship with the University.
Communications may be delivered by email, telephone, SMS/text message, postal mail, or other reasonable means.
SMS COMMUNICATIONS AND EMERGENCY ALERTS
Southwestern Adventist University may use your mobile phone number to send SMS messages related to admissions, enrollment, registration, academic services, financial aid, student services, campus notifications, alumni relations, and other University-related communications for which you have provided consent.
Students and employees may also be enrolled in the University's emergency notification system. Emergency alerts are administered separately from other University SMS communications and may be used to communicate urgent safety, security, weather-related, or other emergency information affecting the campus community.
Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply.
You may opt out of non-emergency SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to a non-emergency message. For assistance, reply HELP.
Students and employees who wish to opt out of the University's emergency notification system must submit a written request to security@swau.edu. The request must clearly state that the individual is electing not to participate in the emergency notification system and must include the individual's full name and student or employee identification number.
Emergency notification opt-out requests must be renewed at the beginning of each academic year.
Replying STOP to a non-emergency SMS message does not constitute an election to opt out of the University's emergency notification system. Emergency notification preferences must be managed separately through the process described above.
An election not to participate in the emergency notification system may not prevent an individual from receiving other safety-related communications, including but not limited to campus sirens, public-address announcements, website notifications, email messages, or government-issued emergency alerts.
SMS PRIVACY
SMS opt-in consent and mobile phone numbers collected for SMS communications will not be shared, sold, rented, or otherwise disclosed to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
Personal information may be provided to service providers solely for the purpose of facilitating SMS communications and emergency notifications on behalf of Southwestern Adventist University. Such service providers are contractually prohibited from using personal information for their own marketing or promotional purposes and may only use such information to provide services to the University.
USER RESPONSIBILITIES
You agree to provide accurate information when interacting with the University and to use University services only for lawful and authorized purposes. You may not interfere with the operation, security, or availability of University systems, networks, websites, or services.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Unless otherwise indicated, all content available through University websites and services, including text, graphics, logos, trademarks, images, audio, video, and other materials, is owned by or licensed to Southwestern Adventist University and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES
University websites and services may contain links to third-party websites or services. Southwestern Adventist University does not control and is not responsible for the content, availability, privacy practices, or terms of use of third-party websites or services. Users access such services at their own risk.
DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
University websites, communications, and services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Southwestern Adventist University makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, regarding the availability, accuracy, reliability, completeness, or suitability of any information, content, or services provided.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Southwestern Adventist University shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to the use of University websites, services, communications, or information.
CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
Southwestern Adventist University reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Updated versions will be posted on the University's website and will become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated.
