KEENE, TEXAS — Southwestern Adventist University is deeply saddened to share the passing of Wizan (Wiz) Sebulburo, a beloved student and member of the Southwestern community. Wiz passed away on Friday evening, October 17, 2025, while swimming in Tennessee during the university’s Fall Holiday break.

Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU) hosted its very first STEM Arts Showcase in Wharton Auditorium on October 9, an inspiring event celebrating the intersection of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the arts. The interdisciplinary exhibition offered students a “creative platform to express scientific and mathematical ideas through visual art, music, performance, and design,” explained art professor Marcela Wall. “The showcase demonstrated how creativity and critical thinking work hand-in-hand, revealing that discovery and innovation thrive as art and science come together.”

Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU) demonstrated its commitment to community engagement and spiritual growth through its annualIgnite Service Day, held on October 1. This full-day event brought together 335 students, faculty, and staff in a united effort to serve the community through 35 projects in the Johnson and Tarrant counties.

Southwestern Adventist University held its annual gala last night, themed “Under the Southwestern Stars,” at Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth, bringing together over 230 supporters for an evening dedicated to student scholarships. Against a warm Texas evening, guests enjoyed an elegant meal, live performances and the chance to connect with fellow alumni, donors, and friends of the university.
