The BS in General Studies at Southwestern Adventist University serves three main groups of students:

Traditional, on-campus students who enroll as General Studies majors are encouraged to transition into a traditional major, the interdisciplinary studies major, or an associate’s degree program upon reaching sophomore status. This ensures that each student is on the most suitable academic track for personal and professional goals.

General Studies Curriculum Overview
The BS in General Studies degree consists of 42 credits (18 upper-division) within one of four broad categories: Humanities, Professional Studies, Social Sciences, or Sciences. Students must also meet all university requirements for the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), general education courses, and grade point average.
- Capstone Seminar: All General Studies bachelor’s degree graduates complete the Capstone Seminar course, UNIV 420 (1 credit hour), or a comparable departmental capstone. This culminating experience ties together your interdisciplinary studies and prepares you for life after graduation.
